What is Verizon Skill Forward?

The Verizon Skill Forward program is a collaboration between edX and Verizon aimed at providing career-enhancing online courses focused on high-demand skills to facilitate long-term career growth. The Skill Forward effort is part of Citizen Verizon, Verizon’s responsible business plan to prepare 500,000 individuals for in-demand jobs by 2030.

No Cost to You

Skill Forward is free for any participant during the 12 months with the program.

You will not be asked for your banking information or a payment by Verizon or edX at any time during the 12 months.

Earn certificates in high-growth fields

Through Verizon Skill Forward, you receive one (1) year of free access to edX’s self-paced, expert-led online programs — strategically curated to align with in-demand roles and essential skills to prepare you to pursue a role at any company. Time to complete a certification varies by program, but some certifications can be earned in as little as a month.

To serve native Spanish speakers, we also offer select Spanish-language programs.

How to get started

To be eligible for Verizon Skill Forward a Verizon account is not required. No prior experience or a college degree is required. You must simply be at least 17 years old and based in the United States and complete the following steps:

Step 1. Register
Complete a brief application form to get started. You’ll instantly find out if you’ve been accepted into Verizon Skill Forward. Once accepted, you’ll have 30 days to complete the following steps to maintain access to the year-long subscription.
Step 2. Activate
Once accepted, you will receive an email with details on your one-year subscription to edX. Click the link in the email within seven (7) days to officially activate your edX subscription
Step 3. Learn
Kick off your learning journey by completing the short introductory course within your first 30 days to unlock year-long access and start earning a résumé-worthy certificate.
